Breaking the Cycle of Shame
Shame, like anger, is a human emotion. Shame and pride are the cause of repeated, destructive behaviors, which result in more sin and shame. James 1:14 says, “But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed”. Shame is directly connected to pride. Pride is often a coverup for shame, which one hides behind, unwilling to admit they have a problem. In many cases, shame-based behavior is a result of a past event, which a current event triggers. Pride prevents an individual from dealing with the root cause of shame. Or seeking help from God or others.
