Breaking the Cycle of Shame

Shame, like anger, is a human emotion. Shame and pride are the cause of repeated, destructive behaviors, which result in more sin and shame. James 1:14 says, “But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed”. Shame is directly connected to pride. Pride is often a coverup for shame, which one hides behind, unwilling to admit they have a problem. In many cases, shame-based behavior is a result of a past event, which a current event triggers. Pride prevents an individual from dealing with the root cause of shame. Or seeking help from God or others.

A New Today

We are entering not only a new year, but a new decade. While people are making New Year’s resolutions they may not keep, God continually, consistently, and faithfully causes the sun to rise on a new day all year long. What if we were to allow God to be the first part of each new day?


We will always be committed to what is important to us. Jesus said, where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. According to an online version of the dictionary, the word “commitment” means the following: “the state or quality of being dedicated to a cause, activity, etc.
